Direct-Sense Brain–Computer Interfaces and Wearable Computers

چکیده
Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) allow users to communicate directly with external devices via their brain signals. Recently, BCIs, and wearable computers in particular, have been receiving more attention by government industry as an alternative means of interacting technology. Wearable can combine highly immersive virtual/augmented/mixed reality experiences for entertainment, health monitoring, utilitarian purposes, and, most importantly at present, research. With computers, researchers design, simulate, finely control experiments examine human-brain dynamics outside the laboratory. Yet despite power take-up is slow. This form interaction unnatural humans often requires stimuli. Further, response feedback produced computer part system nowhere near quick our brains. Hence, we undertook a review current state-of-the-art BCI research distilled findings into stimulus-free BCI, called direct-sense that operates seamlessly from thinking. novel paradigm that, short term, could substantially improve quality user's experience over long lead much widespread

Non-Visual Interfaces for Wearable Computers
INTRODUCTION As computing devices drop in size and rise in power/bandwidth, novel interface techniques are needed to keep pace. Interfaces which rely on screens and keyboards/handwriting are not always effective in mobile computing scenarios. Visual displays are wasted on eyes engaged in navigational tasks such as walking or driving. Similarly, keyboards and handwriting-based interfaces are dif...

Since 1993, members of the MIT Wearable Computing Project have been engaged in a \living experiment," incorporating wearable computing into their everyday lives. Such immediate access to computation power enables a unique lifestyle and has many social implications. Through the use of anecdotes, this paper will attempt to relate our observations on the perception and adoption of new technology, ...
متن کاملErgonomics of Wearable Computers
Wearable computers represent a new and exciting area for technology development, with a host of issues relating to display, power and processing still to be resolved. Wearable computers also present a new challenge to the field of ergonomics; not only is the technology distinct, but the manner in which the technology is to be used and the relationship between user and computer have changed in a...
متن کاملChapter Wearable Computers
Computers have become a primary tool for office workers, allowing them to access the information they need to perform their jobs; however, accessing information is more difficult for more mobile users. With current computer interfaces, the user must focus both physically and mentally on the computing device instead of the environs. In a mobile environment, such interfaces may interfere with the...
متن کاملHuman computer interfaces for wearable computers: a systematic approach to development and evaluation
Over the last decades desktop computers for professional and consumer applications have become a quasi standard, both in owning them and being able to use them for various applications. Recent years are, however, dominated by a new trend in computing: The mobile use of computers. The research presented in this thesis examines user interfaces for wearable computers. Wearable computers are a spec...
